Air Canada Boeing 777-333ER C-FIVX at Sydney Airport operating Air Canada AC7218 SYD-AKL ans AC7220 AKL-YVR

One Air Canada work horse, this Boeing 777-333ER was actually stripped off its economy passenger seats to make room for cargo on the upper deck cabin, The cargo demand is very high in these trouble times, and options are limited, thus airlines have been very agile and creative to increase their cargo payload capabilities.

Qantas Airways Boeing 747-438ER at Sydney Airport - 22 July 2020

The end of an era. After nearly 50 years of service with all type of Boeing 747 aircraft, the last Qantas Airways 747 (a 747-438ER series) left Sydney on the 22 July for a well deserved retirement in the Mojave Desert in California.

Air New Zealand Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 ZK-NZE

There is nothing like the All Blacks Rubgy Team livery applied to an aircraft, let alone to one of the New Zealand national carrier Air New Zealand. This is branding and design at their best.

Wunala Dreaming!

Qantas Airways Boeing 747-438 registered VH-OJB at Sydney Airport in the mid 1990. That very aircraft summarizes my passion for commercial aviation, for the 747 in particular and for design and branding. Sydney based and Aborignal inspired Balarijini Studio created that amazing livery, which to this day remains the best ever applied to a commercail aircraft. I was fortunate enough to fly on this aircraft, just once, on the Kangaroo Route between London and Singapore. Wish I had flown more sectors!

Qantas Airways have been operating repatriation flights to bring overseas stranded Australians home. Here is the first Qantas delivered dreamliner VH-ZNA in final approach to Sydney Airport in the glowing late afternoon light, after a long trip from Frankfurt and a stop over in Darwin

Those big birds have disappeared from the Australian skies.

Qantas’ fleet of 12 Airbus A380-842 has been parked in the Mojave Desert, in Victorville, California until travel demand resumes. The reassuring sounds of the roaring engines of the departing iconic Kangaroo Route flight QF001 each late afternoon is sorely missed.
